Stu Cook SC5 Signature Model
From Stu Cook: “I’ve been a Precision bass player since 1965. Over the next 50+ years I have experimented with other instruments - a Rickenbacker 4001, an EB-3, Fender Jazz and PJ, several Modulus Graphite 4 & 5s, and a Sadowsky PJ5. In early 2010 I acquired Mike Lull #838, a used PJ5, and I was immediately hooked. In the Summer of 2010 Mike built me a monster T5 but being a P bass guy, I never could adjust to the body shape. However, the T Bird pickups completely blew me away. They sounded huge, but my PJ5 felt like home.
Jump ahead to 2019 and I asked Mike to build another custom bass. As much as I’d always liked the shape of the Jazz Bass, the butt (lower rear bout) felt too big, and I hated the controls location.
Then came the lightbulb moment - the Lull M4V passive body is about 20% smaller than the Vintage Jazz body - and the concept came together. I asked Mike to build a 35” JT5 on the smaller M4V body, a 5 string ‘mini’ Jazz with T Bird pickups and a Tele style pickguard.”
(This model can be built with your choice of, woods, color/finish, pickguard material, electronics and either four or five strings)
